Community health workers aim to bridge trust gap and boost HIV prevention

NCT ID NCT07398482

Summary

This study is testing a new program called PrEPwise, designed to help Black women in Virginia decide whether to start taking PrEP, a daily pill that is highly effective at preventing HIV. The program uses community health workers to provide culturally sensitive education and support, aiming to overcome barriers like lack of information and mistrust in healthcare. Researchers will see if this approach makes women more likely to start and continue using PrEP over three months.
