Community health workers aim to bridge trust gap and boost HIV prevention

NCT ID NCT07398482

Summary

This study is testing a new program called PrEPwise, which uses community health workers to help Black women in Virginia understand and access PrEP—a daily pill that is 99% effective at preventing HIV. The program provides culturally sensitive education and decision-making support to address barriers like lack of awareness and medical mistrust. Researchers will measure if the program increases the number of women who start taking PrEP and stick with it over three months.
