Searching for a better crystal ball for premature birth
NCT ID NCT01977079
Summary
This study aimed to see if a blood test measuring a protein called procalcitonin could help doctors better predict which pregnant women hospitalized for early labor would actually go on to deliver prematurely. Researchers enrolled 131 women who were hospitalized with signs of preterm labor between 24 and 36 weeks of pregnancy. The goal was to gather knowledge to improve future prediction, not to provide a treatment.
