Searching for a better crystal ball for premature birth
NCT ID NCT01977079
Summary
This study aimed to see if measuring a substance in the blood called procalcitonin could help doctors better predict which pregnant women hospitalized for early labor would actually go on to deliver their baby prematurely. Researchers enrolled 131 women who were between 24 and 36 weeks pregnant and in the hospital for preterm labor. The goal was to gather knowledge to improve future prediction, not to provide a treatment.
