AI could spot deadly brain swelling before it strikes after common artery surgery
NCT ID NCT05800821
Summary
This study aims to use deep learning (a type of artificial intelligence) to predict which patients will develop a dangerous complication called cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome after surgery to clear blocked carotid arteries in the neck. The complication can cause severe headaches, seizures, stroke, or brain bleeding if not caught early. Researchers will enroll 500 patients to train the AI model to identify high-risk individuals before symptoms become severe.
