IPF patients: is combining drugs better than switching?
NCT ID NCT03939520
First seen Feb 17, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study looked at 279 people with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) whose disease was getting worse despite taking one of two approved drugs (pirfenidone or nintedanib). The goal was to see if combining both drugs works better than switching to the other drug alone. The trial measured lung function decline and how well patients tolerated the treatments over time.
