Hormone therapy before surgery may help older breast cancer patients avoid unnecessary radiation
NCT ID NCT06507618
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 08, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This study is for women aged 65 and older with early-stage, hormone-sensitive breast cancer. It tests whether taking hormone pills for 3 months before surgery helps patients feel more confident about skipping radiation after surgery. Half the participants will receive this pre-surgery hormone therapy, while the other half will proceed directly to standard surgery. The goal is to see if this approach reduces the number of women who both skip radiation and stop taking their hormone therapy too early.
