Heart surgery patients studied for Post-Op confusion

NCT ID NCT04828902

First seen May 20, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at 610 adults who had heart surgery to find out how often they experience postoperative delirium—a sudden state of confusion that can come and go. Researchers tracked known risk factors like age, high blood pressure, and diabetes, and recorded how delirium affected recovery, such as time in the ICU and need for extra treatments. The goal was to better understand and identify delirium early to improve care.
