Massive study aims to predict deadly clots in liver patients

NCT ID NCT07422701

First seen Feb 25, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study will follow about 2,500 adults with liver cirrhosis to learn who develops dangerous blood clots in the liver's main vein. Researchers will review past cases and track new patients for two years to build a prediction tool, measure how clots affect survival, and see if blood thinners help or cause harm. No experimental treatments are given—participants receive standard care.
