Tiny tube eases agony for cancer patients with blocked veins

NCT ID NCT07252570

Summary

This study looked back at a procedure to help cancer patients with a blocked portal vein, a major blood vessel to the liver. The blockage can cause severe fluid buildup in the belly (ascites) or dangerous bleeding. Doctors placed a small mesh tube (stent) to prop the vein open. The research checked how well the stent stayed open, if it improved patients' symptoms, and how safe the procedure was.
