Genetic testing for all women could prevent thousands of cancers

NCT ID NCT07498829

First seen Mar 28, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study offers free genetic testing to 5,000 women, trans men, and non-binary people with female reproductive organs, regardless of family history. The goal is to find hidden gene changes that raise the risk of breast, ovarian, bowel, and womb cancers. Participants use a smartphone app to decide about testing and receive a saliva kit by mail. The study aims to see if this approach catches more high-risk people than current NHS criteria, helping them access screening and prevention options earlier.
