New lens sharpens vision for cataract patients with astigmatism
NCT ID NCT06399211
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study tested a new type of lens implant (PODEYE TORIC) for people having cataract surgery who also have astigmatism (blurry vision from an irregularly shaped cornea). The lens aims to correct both the cataract and the astigmatism at the same time. 261 adults received either the new toric lens or a standard non-toric lens, and researchers measured how well the lens stayed in place and how much it reduced blurry vision. The goal was to see if the new lens is safe and works better than the standard option.
