New ultrasound tech could spot hidden placental issues in pregnancy

NCT ID NCT06861309

First seen Mar 25, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study is testing two new ultrasound methods to see if they can tell the difference between healthy pregnancies and those affected by fetal growth restriction (FGR), where the baby is smaller than expected. Researchers will compare these new scans in 60 pregnant women, some with FGR and some without, to see if the new technology can detect early signs of placental problems. The goal is to improve understanding of how the placenta works in these conditions, not to provide a direct treatment.
