New dialysis fluid aims to prevent dangerous mineral loss in ICU patients
NCT ID NCT07550894
First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study tests a new pre-mixed fluid that contains phosphate for patients in the ICU who need continuous kidney dialysis (CRRT). Normally, this treatment can wash out important minerals like phosphate, causing muscle weakness and breathing problems. The new fluid aims to keep phosphate levels healthy without doctors having to add it manually. About 220 adults across 15 hospitals will take part, and neither patients nor doctors will know which fluid is being used.
