Phone therapy aims to curb binge drinking in young adults

NCT ID NCT07450248

First seen Mar 24, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests whether a 6-week telephone-based therapy (acceptance and commitment therapy) can help young adults aged 18-35 who drink heavily to quit. 288 participants will be split into two groups: one gets the therapy, the other gets social support calls. The main goal is to see if more people in the therapy group have stopped drinking after 6 months, confirmed by a urine test.
