Smartphone alerts tested to stop weight regain

Summary

This study tested two ways to help people maintain weight loss using phone calls. After an initial weight loss program, 255 participants who lost at least 5% of their weight were randomly assigned to receive follow-up calls either once a month or only when an algorithm predicted they were at high risk for regaining weight. The goal was to see which phone schedule was better for keeping weight off over two years.
