New study aims to stop dangerous blood pressure drops in C-Sections

NCT ID NCT07420127

First seen Feb 24, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study tests two different doses of a drug called phenylephrine to see which works better at preventing blood pressure drops in women having a planned C-section. After the baby is delivered, a drug called oxytocin is given to help the uterus contract and prevent heavy bleeding, but it can cause blood pressure to fall. The study will compare the two doses in 112 women to find the safest and most effective way to keep blood pressure stable.
