Preemie heart clue: chemical levels may predict ductus risk
NCT ID NCT07338370
First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study looks at 34 preterm babies (born at 32 weeks or earlier) to see if levels of a natural chemical called PGE2 can predict a heart condition called PDA. The babies are monitored in the NICU, and researchers measure PGE2 levels and check their hearts with ultrasound. No treatments are given—this is just to gather information for future care.
