First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This early-phase study at Massachusetts General Hospital is testing a new radioactive tracer called [11C]SY08 to see if it can detect clumps of alpha-synuclein protein in the brain using PET scans. The study includes 40 people aged 50-80 with Parkinson's disease, multiple system atrophy, dementia with Lewy bodies, or healthy volunteers. The goal is to understand how the tracer behaves in the brain, which could lead to better diagnosis of these conditions.
