Summary
This study tested whether placing a silicone ring (pessary) around the cervix could prevent early delivery in twin pregnancies where the cervix is shorter than normal. 324 women carrying twins and with a short cervix were randomly assigned to receive the pessary or standard monitoring. The goal was to see if the pessary reduced the risk of newborn death or serious health problems before leaving the hospital.
