Tailored surgery could reduce overtreatment for vulvar cancer
NCT ID NCT05576831
Summary
This study aims to improve treatment for vulvar cancer by personalizing surgery based on the tumor's characteristics. Researchers will test whether adjusting surgical margins based on whether the cancer is linked to HPV infection or a p53 mutation leads to better outcomes and fewer side effects. The goal is to move away from a one-size-fits-all approach, potentially reducing overtreatment for some and ensuring more effective treatment for others.
