First seen Apr 04, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study tested a combination of behavioral activation (a type of counseling that encourages positive activities) and medication optimization (adjusting current medicines) to reduce anxiety and depression in adults aged 60 and older undergoing surgery for cancer. 105 participants were randomly assigned to receive this bundled intervention or usual care. The main goal was to see if the intervention improved mood and anxiety scores three months after surgery compared to usual care.
