New imaging technique could make heart ablation safer and more effective
NCT ID NCT03713866
First seen Mar 18, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tests a new imaging method to help doctors treat a dangerous heart rhythm called ventricular tachycardia (VT). VT happens when scar tissue in the heart creates an electrical "short circuit." Doctors use a procedure called catheter ablation to block that circuit, but current methods often fail because the circuit is hard to see. The new approach combines 3D scans (CT or MRI) with electrical imaging to map the circuit before, during, and after the procedure. The goal is to improve targeting and reduce the chance of VT coming back. The study involves 20 adults with VT who are already scheduled for ablation.
