Heart mapping breakthrough could prevent sudden cardiac death

NCT ID NCT03713866

First seen Mar 18, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tests a new imaging method to find the exact location of electrical 'short circuits' in the heart that cause dangerous rapid heartbeats. Researchers will use special body-surface electrodes and CT or MRI scans to create 3D maps before and after a standard ablation procedure. The goal is to help doctors better target treatment and understand why ablation sometimes fails. About 20 adults with scar-related ventricular tachycardia who already have an implanted defibrillator will take part.
