Hip replacement vs. metal rods: which is better for cancer patients?
NCT ID NCT06863129
First seen Nov 10, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study looks at two types of hip surgery for people whose cancer has spread to the hip bone. One surgery uses metal rods and plates to hold the bone together. The other removes the damaged bone and replaces it with an artificial joint. The goal is to see which surgery leads to fewer problems, better physical function, and more time at home. About 334 adults with a life expectancy of at least 6 months will take part and be followed for one year.
