Could a Virus-Fighting vaccine shrink deadly childhood brain tumors?

NCT ID NCT05096481

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests a vaccine called PEP-CMV in 120 children and young adults with aggressive brain tumors (high-grade glioma, DIPG, or recurrent medulloblastoma). The vaccine targets a protein from a common virus (CMV) that often hides in these tumors, aiming to train the immune system to attack the cancer. Participants receive the vaccine after standard treatments like radiation. The goal is to see if this approach can slow tumor growth or improve survival.
