New study tests safer ways to treat bladder leaks in older women prone to falls

NCT ID NCT05880862

First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looks at three standard treatments for urgency urinary incontinence (sudden, strong urges to urinate) in women aged 60 and older who are also at high risk of falling. The treatments are pelvic floor muscle training with a physical therapist, and two different medications (mirabegron and trospium). The main goal is to see if a larger study comparing these approaches is possible, and how each treatment affects both bladder symptoms and fall risk. 48 women will take part for 6 months.
