Could a heart drug tame aneurysms? new study investigates

NCT ID NCT06081153

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 02, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests whether evolocumab, a drug that lowers 'bad' cholesterol, changes the cells in the wall of an abdominal aortic aneurysm. About 44 people scheduled for aneurysm repair will receive either the drug or a placebo before surgery. Researchers will then compare the tissue removed during surgery to see if the drug reduces inflammation or other harmful cell activity.
