Fun tape may ease kids' IV pain, study says
NCT ID NCT07316036
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tests whether using patterned (decorative) tape instead of plain tape to hold an IV in place can reduce pain and improve vital signs in children aged 3–12 who need regular IV therapy for chronic conditions. Each child will try both types of tape on different treatment days, and researchers will measure pain using a standard scale along with oxygen levels and heart rate. The goal is to find a simple, non-drug way to make IV therapy more comfortable for kids.
