Fun tape may ease kids' IV pain, study finds
NCT ID NCT07316036
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study looks at whether using patterned (decorated) tape instead of plain tape to hold an IV in place can reduce pain and improve heart rate and oxygen levels in children. Forty children aged 3 to 12 who get regular IV therapy for chronic conditions will try both types of tape on different days. Pain is measured with a standard scale, and vital signs are recorded before and after the procedure.
