Polka dots vs. plain tape: a colorful approach to children's IV pain

NCT ID NCT07316036

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether using patterned (decorative) tape instead of plain tape to hold an IV in place can lower pain and improve vital signs in children. Forty kids aged 3-12 who get regular IV therapy for chronic conditions will try both types of tape on different days. Researchers will measure pain using a standard scale and check oxygen levels and heart rate before and after.
