Summary

This study tests whether a patient navigator program can help breast cancer patients with social challenges—like food, housing, or transportation issues—stay on schedule with their treatment. Participants will be contacted by a navigator every three weeks to connect them with community resources and address barriers to clinic visits. The trial will measure how often chemotherapy is delayed and how many appointments are missed or canceled, comparing patients who receive navigation to those who don't.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Patient navigator program
What this could lead to
If effective, this approach could reduce treatment delays and missed appointments for breast cancer patients facing social challenges, potentially improving outcomes.
What could go wrong
The trial is relatively small and focuses on one center, so results may not apply broadly. The benefit depends on the availability and quality of community resources.
