Pasteurized vs. raw breast milk: which is better for tiny babies?

NCT ID NCT07411872

First seen Mar 01, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looked at 900 very low birth weight preterm infants to see if pasteurizing mother's own milk (recommended when the mother has a common virus) changes health outcomes compared to raw milk. Researchers also considered whether the baby's sex plays a role. The goal was to understand risks and benefits of pasteurization for these fragile newborns.
