First seen Jan 23, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests whether a special nerve block (parasternal plane block) can better control pain during heart surgery in children aged 6 months to 7 years. The goal is to reduce the need for strong pain medicines and help children recover faster. Sixty children having planned heart surgery through a chest incision will be randomly assigned to receive the nerve block or standard care.
