New blood test aims to spot hidden digestive problems in pancreatitis patients
NCT ID NCT07418593
Summary
This study is testing a new blood test designed to find people with chronic or recurrent pancreatitis who have trouble absorbing fat from their food, a condition that often goes undetected. Researchers will enroll 80 participants to see if the test can identify those who might benefit from taking pancreatic enzyme pills. A smaller group of those who respond to the enzymes will then join an 8-week trial comparing the real enzyme pills to a placebo to see if they improve daily life and symptoms.
