New shot may slash opioid use after hip replacement

NCT ID NCT07410000

First seen Feb 19, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study tests whether a special ultrasound-guided nerve block (called Quadro-Iliac Plane block) can reduce pain and the need for strong painkillers after hip replacement surgery. About 100 adults having a first hip replacement will be randomly assigned to get either the nerve block or a placebo injection. The main goal is to see if the block lowers opioid use in the first 24 hours after surgery.
