New hip surgery pain block could cut opioid use

Summary
This study tests whether a new ultrasound-guided nerve block (called Quadro-Iliac Plane block) can reduce pain and the need for strong painkillers after hip replacement surgery. About 100 adults having hip replacement will be randomly assigned to get either the real nerve block or a sham (fake) injection. The main goal is to see if the block lowers opioid use in the first 24 hours after surgery.
