Targeted shot aims to ease agony after skull surgery

NCT ID NCT05624359

Summary

This study is testing whether adding a specific anti-inflammatory drug (flurbiprofen axetil) to a standard local anesthetic, injected into the scalp during brain surgery, can better prevent or reduce pain afterwards. The goal is to see if this combination helps patients feel less pain and need fewer strong opioid painkillers in the first two days after their operation. The trial is currently suspended and was planned to involve 216 adults undergoing a specific type of brain surgery.
