First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests a new pain-blocking injection called the External Oblique Intercostal Plane Block for people having major upper abdominal surgery (like stomach, liver, or pancreas surgery). The goal is to see if it reduces the need for strong painkillers (opioids) and improves recovery. About 78 adults will take part, and half will get the injection plus standard pain care, while the other half gets only standard care.
