New study aims to improve pain relief after back surgery

NCT ID NCT07455565

First seen Mar 20, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looks at two different methods to control pain after elective lower back surgery. One method uses an ultrasound-guided nerve block, while the other uses standard pain medications given through a vein. Researchers will use a special monitor that tracks heart rate to see which method provides better pain relief. The study will involve 100 adults aged 18 to 65 who are scheduled for lumbar spine surgery.
