New pain pump method could cut opioid use after surgery

Summary

This study tests two different ways of giving pain medicine through a patient-controlled pump after surgery. The goal is to see if a smarter pump that adjusts the dose based on your pain can lower the total amount of opioids needed and reduce side effects. About 1170 adults having various surgeries will take part.
