First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tests whether a numbing gel (topical lidocaine) can reduce pain when placing a cervical ripening balloon, a common step in inducing labor. About 110 pregnant women at 37 weeks or later will take part. Half will get the gel, half a placebo, and they will rate their pain on a 0–10 scale.
