Could a numbing shot replace full sedation for kids' broken wrists?

NCT ID NCT07120763

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a numbing injection (hematoma block) combined with a small dose of ketamine or fentanyl nasal spray can control pain as well as full sedation in children aged 3-17 who need a broken wrist bone realigned. About 50 kids will be randomly assigned to one of three groups to compare pain scores and satisfaction. The goal is to find a simpler, safer way to manage pain during this common emergency procedure.
