NCT ID NCT07513740

First seen Apr 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study compares two types of nerve blocks—the PENG block and the Deep Iliacus Plane Block—for pain relief during spinal anesthesia positioning and after hip fracture surgery. 75 adults aged 30-85 will receive one of the blocks plus standard pain medication. The goal is to see which block provides better pain control and reduces the need for extra painkillers.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

bupivacaine

What this could lead to

If one block works better, it could improve pain control and comfort for patients with hip fractures during and after surgery.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 75 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Both blocks are already used, so no major breakthrough is expected.
