New pain block study aims to cut opioid use after back surgery

Summary

This study compares two types of ultrasound-guided pain blocks given before lumbar microdiscectomy surgery to see which one better controls pain and reduces the need for opioids. Eighty adults aged 18 to 65 will be randomly assigned to receive one of the two blocks. The goal is to improve recovery and minimize side effects.
