Ozone treatment may zap early cavities without the drill
NCT ID NCT07671651
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 01, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether ozone therapy, followed by a remineralizing gel, can reverse the earliest stage of cavities in children aged 6-14. Half of the 80 participants will get ozone plus gel, the other half just gel. Researchers will check the teeth over 8 weeks using special lights and lasers to see if the ozone helps heal the enamel.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- ozone therapy (device) plus remineralizing gel
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a simple, non-invasive way to reverse early cavities in children without drilling.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 80 children. The results may not apply to all kids or to more advanced cavities.
