Can a 'Trust Hormone' boost therapy for schizophrenia?
NCT ID NCT07265180
Summary
This study is testing whether a nasal spray containing oxytocin, a hormone linked to social bonding, can make group mindfulness therapy more effective for people with schizophrenia. Researchers want to see if taking oxytocin before weekly therapy sessions helps reduce hard-to-treat symptoms like social withdrawal and lack of motivation. The study will involve 120 participants in Berlin who will receive either oxytocin or a placebo spray in a carefully controlled trial.
