First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tested whether a special oxygen mask that covers both the mouth and nose works better than the usual nasal prongs for preventing low oxygen levels in children during an upper GI endoscopy (a scope down the throat to look at the stomach). The trial included 114 children aged 6 to 16 who were having this procedure under sedation. The main goal was to see which method kept oxygen levels higher and safer throughout the procedure.
