Can a brace and targeted exercises ease spondylolisthesis pain?
NCT ID NCT06989138
First seen Aug 03, 2026 · Last updated Aug 04, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether wearing a soft back brace for several weeks, combined with either stabilization or conventional exercises, can reduce pain, improve physical function, and boost quality of life in adults with spondylolisthesis. Participants are adults aged 18-65 with mild to moderate spondylolisthesis who do not need surgery. The trial compares the effects of the two exercise programs with the brace on pain, balance, disability, and well-being.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- A soft back orthosis (brace) combined with either stabilization or conventional exercise training
- What this could lead to
- If effective, this approach could offer a non-surgical way to reduce pain and improve function and quality of life for people with spondylolisthesis.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial, and results may not apply to everyone. The brace and exercises may not outperform standard care, and some people may find the brace uncomfortable.
