First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tested a new surgical technique for repairing a common complication after cleft palate surgery: a small hole (fistula) in the roof of the mouth. In 36 patients, surgeons added a free fat graft from the cheek between the two standard closure layers. The goal was to see if this extra layer improved wound healing and reduced the chance of the hole coming back.
