Could shorter feeding times help ICU patients recover faster?
NCT ID NCT07270939
First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 35 times
Summary
This study looks at whether giving tube feeding for 18 or 20 hours a day (with a break) is better than the usual 24-hour continuous feeding for critically ill patients in the ICU. About 150 adults on breathing machines will be randomly assigned to one of three feeding schedules. Researchers will track how long patients stay in the ICU, infection rates, blood sugar control, and how well the feeding is tolerated.
